Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN visits the ASEAN Foundation
Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, Dr. Makarim Wibisono warmly welcomed the new Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN, His Excellency Dato’ Hasnudin Hamzah, who made a courtesy call to the ASEAN Foundation on Thursday, 8 March 2012. As they have long been acquainted, the two ambassadors exchanged information on the current world developments, ASEAN and specifically on the ASEAN Foundation.
Dr. Makarim Wibisono informed his guest on the activities of the ASEAN Foundation and updated him on the general development of the Foundation. As a Member of the Board of Trustees of the ASEAN Foundation, Dato’ Hasnudin Hamzah gave some positive insights for the Foundation and looks forward to work together in the near future.
Dato’ Hasnudin Hamzah is the second Malaysian PR replacing Dato’ Hsu King Bee who retired and would be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dato’ Hasnudin bin Hamzah is a senior career diplomat who has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1984. Key positions held include serving as the Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan (2006-2009) and High Commissioner to New Zealand (2009-2011). Prior to his appointment as the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN, Dato’ Hasnudin Hamzah served as the Undersecretary with Special Functions (ASEAN).
The ASEAN Foundation was established by the ASEAN Leaders in December 1997 during ASEAN’s 30th Anniversary Commemorative Summit to help bring about shared prosperity and a sustainable future to all 10 ASEAN Member Countries, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
