The ASEAN Foundation, in cooperation with the Credit Union Coordination District Office Pangkalpinang (BK3D – Badan Koordinasi Koperasi Kredit Daerah), conducted the ICT training for SMEs in Pangkalpinang, Bangka-Belitung Province on 10-12 April 2012 as part of the ASEAN Foundation-Microsoft ICT training programs for SMEs in Indonesia.

The training was officiated by the Head of BK3D, Mr. Ignatius Sumardi who stated that ICT would be a great loop to enhance the Credit Union Services to its members and a good marketing tool to promote the member's products to the outer market outside Pangkalpinang and even to the world. He believed that the ICT training can also help BK3D members to promote the Bangka-Belitung Islands as one of the tourist destinations in Indonesia.

The training was participated in by 20 SMEs as well as members of various Credit Unions across Bangka-Belitung Province. The 3-day training aims to provide the participants with basic knowledge of e-commerce and e-business tools and covered modules on various marketing-related IT applications.

The training is part of the 22 ICT training programs for SMEs in Indonesia under the ASEAN Foundation – Microsoft Indonesia partnership and fully supported by Microsoft. The trainings are aimed to promote information and communication technologies among small and medium enterprises, which target at around 400 local implementers of SMEs, youth, and women in Indonesia. 20 trainings have been successfully conducted in North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Jakarta, West Java, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara. The final closing of the ICT training will be conducted in Manado, South Sulawesi on 24-26 April 2012. For more information about the program, a dedicated e-mail address has been set up to attend to public queries: icttraining@aseanfoundation.org.
