ASEAN Foundation in the University of Slamet Riyadi Surakarta

The Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation, Dr. Makarim Wibisono was invited by Mr. Joko Pramono, the Dean of Social and Political Faculty of the University of Slamet Riyadi Surakarta to be a speaker in the Study Programme on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations on June 8, 2012. Dr. Makarim Wibisono made a presentation on how local governments in Indonesia should prepare themselves in facing opportunities in international trade, monetary and investment during globalization.

The Study Programme on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations in the University of Slamet Riyadi Surakarta is designed to equip officials in the local governments in Java Island with the better understanding on the opportunities and challenges in the current international relations. This capacity building program is conducted by the University in cooperation with the European Union.

This training is organized four times in a year in 2012 and 2013 in order to strengthen the capacity of the officials of local governments in Indonesia. Each training lasts for two weeks. Besides Dr. Makarim Wibisono, Ambassador Soemadi Brotodiningrat, Ambassador Agus Tarmidzi, Ambassador Dr. Boer Mauna, Ambassador Musma Abbas and Ambassador Amirudin Noer were also invited to be speakers on the issue of international security, international law, protocol and public speaking.
