After a thorough process of selection involving selection panel members from the Philippine Mission to ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat as well as the ASEAN Foundation, 70 undergraduate students and 10 university academic members have successfully been selected to participate in the six-day programme of the Third ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting 2017 or the 3rd AFMAM 2017, in short, at the De La Salle University, Manila, on 25 – 30 September 2017. A total of 88 participants are targeted including the involvement of the AFMAM alumni from the Philippines.
These selected delegations from the ten ASEAN Member States will get this rare opportunity to learn about how the ASEAN Member States come to decisions by role-playing ASEAN high level officials in ASEAN meetings. These excited groups of young people will be exposed to lectures on ASEAN and other knowledge on ASEAN structure, protocols, and how the ASEAN Member States address an issue from cross-sectoral and cross-pillar perspective regionally. Distinguished speakers and personages will be invited to share their expertise to the participating delegations.
The participating delegates come from not less than 30 different universities across the region with a diverse background from political sciences, engineering, environmental, arts and literature to business management studies.
The 3rd AFMAM 2017 is an initiative of the ASEAN Foundation endorsed by the ASEAN Member States and is also recognised by the Philippines, being the ASEAN Chair, as one of commemorative activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN this year. The 3rd AFMAM 2017 is implemented in partnership with the De La Salle University in Manila as well as supported by the ASEAN-US PROGRESS, the Government of Canada, Zalora and the League of Corporate Foundation (LCF) Philippines.
Congratulations to all delegations and see you soon in Manila!
