Rajaratnam Endowment - ASEAN Community’ Forum’ (SRE-ASEAN Community Forum) kicked off this morning, Monday (09/03) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) involving around 42 prominent Civil Society Organisations (CSO) representatives from all ten ASEAN Member States.
JAKARTA, 13 February 2017 – Viet Nam won the first prize and outperformed youth contestants from other nine Member States for the second year in a row at the second ASEAN Youth Video Contest. Jos Quyen (21), a graphic design student in Ho Chi Minh City designed, developed, and produced the winning video entitled “Real Action, Real Volunteering” which depicts youth volunteerism in Viet Nam and its impact to the ASEAN Community. Jos got the cash prize of $1,000.
Jakarta (1/2) - Furthering its commitments towards strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing the quality, regional competitiveness and internationalisation of ASEAN higher education institutions, ASEAN and the European Union (EU) are pleased to announce the awardees of the second batch of the "EU Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region" (SHARE) scholarships. A total of 134 ASEAN undergraduate students from 29 ASEAN Universities in 8 ASEAN Member States, will receive a fully funded scholarship to spend one semester of study abroad in another ASEAN country.
Manila (26/01) - On 23-25 January 2017, sixty undergraduate students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and other different colleges and universities in the Philippines participated in the UST-Model ASEAN Meeting (MAM). This was the third time the university hosted the initiative since January 2015. The student delegates participated in a three-day simulation of the annual ASEAN meetings, including Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), Ministerial Meeting, and the ASEAN Summit.
Ha Noi (17/12) To commemorate one year of the establishment of the ASEAN Community as well as to celebrate and revive the “ASEAN” feeling, 30 puppeteers and musicians from 10 ASEAN Member States and guest artists from Japan gathered for a week-long-workshop in Ha Noi, Vietnam. It was the 10th ASEAN Puppets Exchange to work collaboratively on the “One ASEAN” Community performance.
Singapore (8/12)-Following the success of the inaugural 2015 contest, the 2nd ASEAN Youth Video Contest opened its call for application in mid-August 2016 receiving 100 video entries submitted by young people aged between 18-30 years from all 10 ASEAN Member States. The initiative is a collaborative project implemented by the ASEAN-U.S. PROGRESS and ASEAN Foundation supported by the ASEAN Secretariat.
Ha Noi (09/12) – Thirty puppet artists and musicians from the ASEAN Puppet Exchange (APEX) collective will gather in Ha Noi from 9 -18 December 2016 to collaboratively work on the “One ASEAN” story to commemorate the first year of establishing the ASEAN Community. The artist-to-artist exchange is a culmination of nine series of APEX workshop across Southeast Asia that has started since 2014.
