ASEAN Foundation - SAP Partnership

The ASEAN Foundation and SAP has formed a strategic partnership to further positive social impact in the ASEAN region. This joint effort focuses on areas of Education, Volunteerism, and Entrepreneurship. The collaboration will engage youths and social entrepreneurs to contribute to ASEAN’s vision of an inclusive people-centred and people-oriented community. The Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations is a part of SAP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. The policy aims (i) to equip youths with the skills they need to tackle society’s problems and thrive in the digital economy and (ii) to build the capacity of innovative social enterprises that put young people on the path to successful careers and build a skilled workforce for the IT sector with training and workforce development programmes. Hence, this agreement will focus on driving digital literacy to support sustainable growth for the communities that the programmes aim to benefit. This newly formed strategic partnership has been in place for less than a year but has seen some significant positive impact across the ASEAN community.

Education - ADSE

The ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ADSE) Competition falls under the area of Education. It aims to enhance awareness and appreciation of the ASEAN community amongst students through digital literacy intervention. The competition targets tertiary students across all 10 member states and trains them data analytics using the SAP Business Objects Cloud tool. This joint initiative between ASEAN Foundation and SAP will encourage ASEAN youths to harness the power of data, highlight key social issues in the region and derive meaningful insights that lead to innovative solutions. This empowers youths with skills and a sense of ownership for ASEAN to play a key role in tackling social issues and help create a positive change for a better future in the region. This contributes to realizing the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint 2025 vision of creating an ASEAN community that engages and benefits the people, and is inclusive, sustainable, resilient and dynamic. The social issues in focus will be nested within six United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – (1) Good health and well-being, (2) Quality education, (3) Gender equality, (4) Clean water and sanitation, (5) Decent work and economic growth, and (6) Sustainable cities and communities. The competition will hold national selections across all 10 member states and will culminate in a regional final held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
