AFMAM Journey: Khánh Linh Bồ

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting (AFMAM) 2020 has provided youth with an exclusive virtual experience that allowed them to meet some of ASEAN's most bright young people. It was also an eye-opening experience that drives them to keep moving forward and be involved in tackling the region's most pressing challenges.

"AFMAM 2020 has changed my perspectives on global citizen. I always thought that being a global citizen is when you get the chance to travel the world and represent your country, but I was wrong. A global citizen is someone who self-identifies, not as a member of a state, a tribe or a nation but as a member of the human race and as someone who is prepared to act on that belief to tackle our world's greatest challenge. AFMAM challenge me to step out of my comfort zone," said Khánh Linh Bồ, delegate from Viet Nam who took the role as one of the Head of Governments.

Compared to the usual face-to-face activities, AFMAM 2020 was held virtually in accordance with the COVID-19 mitigation efforts, and many participants had to meet and collaborate with each other remotely.

"Collaboration has never been an easy task, especially when we all need to work distantly. From the time I formed my Vietnam team to the moment I made my first speech in such a regional conference, technology played a significant role in keeping me connected with everyone. Technology is no longer limited to the LMS of my university or the social media platform I used to contact my parents. It is also a tool for us to collaborate. The challenges were not easy, but it helps us grow," Khánh Linh Bồ added.

"I would like to thank my advisor Mr. Nam Le, all my teammates from Vietnam and my fellow delegates from Indonesia for always supporting me to make it. Also, to all the organizers, please accept my greatest appreciation for your efforts to connect us, ASEAN youths," he concluded.
