eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN Programme Seeks Its Second Cohort of Youth!

Indonesia, 10 September 2019 - The eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN (EYAA) Programme is back and we are inviting you to grab the opportunity and join our second cohort (2019-2020) of change-makers in making positive, lasting impact in communities in the region by immersing yourselves in social volunteering and community investment projects throughout the selected ASEAN countries! This year’s programme offers a new format where we will not only invite talented youth across the region, but also registered civil society organisations (CSOs) and social enterprises (SEs) in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines to submit their applications!!

The selected 100 youths as well as shortlisted CSOs and SEs will converge in Bangkok, Thailand around March 2020 to take part in the Regional Workshop of EYAA, where participants will go through a comprehensive capacity building workshop and work together to figure out the best way to utilise a total funding of USD 200 K (up to USD 20 K per project) to give birth to community projects that can make lasting, positive impact to the surrounding communities.

If you want to register as a youth, below are the criteria:

a. Age of 19-35 years old by applicant’s next birthday (2020).
b. Citizens of ASEAN Member States.
c. Fluency in English, as mentoring, trainings, and general communication during the programme will be fully conducted in English, participants are required to be able to have verbal and written fluency in English.
d. Full commitment themselves to one-week regional training from 17 to 23 February 2020 and two weeks of overseas volunteering project on from 23 March to 8 April 2020. This year’s programme offers a new format where CSOs and SEs are openly recruited and the selected ones will be flown to the Regional Workshop of EYAA in Bangkok, Thailand around March 2020 to meet with the 100 youth and pitch community project proposals to them. The CSOs and SEs with the best proposals and sustainability plans will have the opportunity to work together with the youth to develop and implement ten community projects in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines with a total funding of USD 200 K (up to USD 20 K per project).


If you want to apply as CSOs and SEs, below are the criteria:

a. Must be a registered CSO and SE in the host country.
b. CSOs and SEs community project must fall under the following thematic areas: Community Empowerment, Arts and Culture, Environmental Diversity or Education.
c. Fluency in English, as mentoring, trainings, and general communication during the programme will be fully conducted in English.
d. Able to attend the one-week regional training from 17 to 23 February 2020 and two weeks overseas volunteering project from 23 March to 8 April 2020.
e. Commitment to continue the implementation of the project sustainability beyond the two-week.
f. Commitment to mentor the youth from the mixed nationality of ASEAN Member States in the implementation of the community projects.
g. Possess a bank account with any major bank in Southeast Asia to ease money transferring process.
