The ASEAN Foundation organised the Second Meet-up of ASEAN Foundation Influencer Programme (AFIP) virtually on Wednesday, 15 March 2023. The event was attended by 21 ASEAN Foundation’s influencers who have been playing a significant role in promoting ASEAN awareness in the last three months.
The Second Meet-up of AFIP was graced by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Cambodia to ASEAN and the Chair of the Board of Trustees of ASEAN Foundation, H.E. Ambassador Heng Sarith who delivered an opening remarks about the importance of harnessing the creative power of youth and social media in showing the beautiful side of ASEAN to its citizens. He also expressed his confidence in the role of AFIP as a platform for young people to share their experiences, ideas and discussions that are crucial for regional development.
The event was then followed by a presentation session to explain about the do’s and don’ts in creating a ASEAN-related contents as well as the judging criteria in determining best contents and influencers. To further motivate the influencers, an additional prize for the top three best influencers was announced: On top of the certificate of recognition and prize money, the winners will also be awarded with a fully funded trip to Bangkok, Thailand, where they will support the promotion effort of the Regional Workshop of eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN programme.
Another highlight of the event was the training session led by the Creator and Community Partnerships Manager of TikTok Singapore, Doreen Tan, who shared tips and tricks on how to create a viral education content on TikTok. The one-hour training session included a thorough explanation on the importance of effective hooks, background music, and SEO keywords. She reminded the influencers to pay attention to personal branding by having a good and memorable display name, profile picture and compelling bio.
AFIP is an outreach initiative implemented by ASEAN Foundation to bolster its effort to promote ASEAN awareness and identity to young people by harnessing the expertise and network of social media influencers. The programme will culminate in the selection of top three influencers who have the best and most consistent performance throughout the 6-month programme. The winners will be awarded a total prize of USD 1,000, a fully funded trip to Bangkok, and winner certificate.
