ASEAN Foundation, in partnership with Huawei, is excited to announce the nominations for ASEAN Seeds for the Future 2023 are now open!

We warmly welcome interested applicants to nominate themselves, and we also extend an invitation to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to nominate aspiring youth with great potential.

Introduction

ASEAN Seeds for the Future is a joint programme between ASEAN Foundation and Huawei, designed to provide ASEAN youth with an opportunity to enhance their digital technology skills, gain exposure to cutting-edge innovations, and experience cross-cultural exchange. The programme consists of two main components: an online course on digital technology on July 2023 and an immersive visit to Huawei's Headquarter in Shenzhen, China, on September 2023.

Seeds for the Future is Huawei’s global flagship CSR programme dedicated to STEM and non–STEM students worldwide. As the programme begins to scale up to the ASEAN level, it seeks to equip more students in the region with ICT skills and prepare them to succeed in the Industry 4.0 era. Since its launch in Thailand in 2008, the programme has provided training opportunities for more than 12,000 youths worldwide at Huawei’s headquarters to enrich their skill-set and pursue their aspiration.

After completing the programme, participants will obtain a certificate of achievement from the ASEAN Foundation and Huawei and gain better prospects in starting a career at Huawei and its solution partners. This is also a great opportunity for participants to connect and make friends with youth from all ASEAN countries.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a citizen of an ASEAN member country
• Fluent in English (Spoken and Written)
• Enrolled in a tertiary education institute located in ASEAN
• Have a strong interest in digital technology and its potential applications
• Possess a good academic record and demonstrate a commitment to learning and personal growth
• Committed to attend the whole online training from 24 to 31 July 2023
• Available to travel to China in third week of September 2023

Application Process:

The application process for the ASEAN Seeds for the Future programme is open from 26 June to 10 July 2023. To apply, please complete the following form: bit.ly/apply-sftf2023

Online Training on Digital Technology:

Upon the completion of the application process, the programme will select the top 80 students based on their academic merit, digital technology aptitude, and potential for growth. These selected participants will be enrolled in the DigTech Masterclass online training on 24 July – 7 August 2023 focused on a specific topic related to digital technology listed below:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in various industries.
• Cloud Computing and its role in modern business operations.
• 5G Technology and its impact on connectivity and innovation.
• Cybersecurity and the challenges faced in the digital era.
• Internet of Things (IoT) and its potential for transforming industries.
• Data Science and Analytics for effective decision-making.

Participants will have access to comprehensive learning materials, virtual lectures, interactive discussions, and practical assignments to enhance their understanding of the chosen topic.

Immersive Visit to Huawei's Headquarter and Cultural Exploration:

After the successful completion of the online course, the top 15 participants who demonstrate exceptional performance and dedication will be selected for an immersive visit to Huawei's Headquarter in Shenzhen, China. The visit is scheduled for 15 – 20 September 2023.

During the visit, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Interact with industry experts and learn about the latest technological advancements.
• Explore Huawei's state-of-the-art facilities and research labs.
• Engage in interactive workshops and discussions on digital innovation.
• Immerse themselves in Chinese culture through cultural activities, visits to historical landmarks, and interactions with local communities.
