Overview  

The ASEAN Foundation, in its unwavering commitment to addressing emerging challenges and opportunities, has officially launched an innovative programme titled AI Ready ASEAN on 2nd October 2024. This initiative, supported by Google.org, is designed to empower 5.5 million ASEAN citizens. By equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, AI Ready ASEAN aims to enable individuals to navigate and benefit from the evolving opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI). 

One of the key strategies to achieve this ambitious goal is to leverage the power of social media. Recognising social media as a potent tool for connecting people and raising awareness, the ASEAN Foundation is launching a social media campaign to amplify the reach and impact of AI Ready ASEAN. This campaign is designed to engage a broad audience across the ASEAN region, fostering a deeper understanding of AI's transformative potential. 

In celebration of International Education Week, from 18-22November 2024, AI Ready ASEAN is aligning its mission with this global event. The programme seeks to educate ASEAN citizens, about the benefits and applications of AI in education. To this end, the ASEAN Foundation is organising a social media challenge. This initiative aims to spread awareness of both AI Ready ASEAN and International Education Week. 

The social media challenge invites participants to engage with the theme of AI in education, encouraging them to share their personal experiences and insights. Through this interactive and inclusive approach, the challenge seeks to highlight the innovative ways AI is being integrated into educational practices across the ASEAN region.  

Objectives, Target, and Format 

The main objective of the AI Ready ASEAN social media challenge is to engage the ASEAN community in recognising and showcasing the transformative role of artificial intelligence in education. By encouraging participants to share their personal experiences of how AI has positively impacted their educational pursuits, the challenge aims to spread awareness of AI Ready ASEAN and highlight the innovative ways AI is being integrated into learning environments across the region. This initiative seeks to foster a broader understanding of AI's benefits in education, aligning with the programme's mission to empower ASEAN citizens with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the evolving opportunities brought by AI. 

The target participants of this challenge are the general public of ASEAN. Below are the details of the social media challenge: 

Topic: 

Unveiling AI’s Transformative Role in Shaping Educational Journey 

Key Message: 

Embrace AI's potential to enhance learning outcomes and educational journeys. 

Competition period: 

18 - 25 November 2024 

Platform: 

Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook 

Winning Prizes: 

A digital winner certificate and total of USD 250 are available for four winners: 

- 1st Winner: Winner Certificate + Cash Prize of USD 100 

- 2nd Winner: Winner Certificate + Cash Prize of USD 70 

- 3rd Winner: Winner Certificate + Cash Prize of USD 50 

- Most Like Post Winner: Winner Certificate + Cash Prize of USD 30

Requirements and Eligibilities 

 Who can apply?  

  • General public holding an ASEAN Member States passport (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam) and residing in the country of citizenship. 

 

Entry and Selection Criteria:  

Applicants are permitted to create one content and share them on their Instagram, Facebook, and/or TikTok. The competition welcomes creative entries in various formats, including photo (single post or carousel post), video, or infographic on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. 

Applicants must adhere to the following guidelines: 

  • Follow @aseanfoundation on Instagram/TikTok/Facebook and ensure that their profile is publicly accessible, not private. 
  • Clearly and creatively address the challenge's topic  
  • Use English in both the posts and captions. If created in a local language, provide an English translation. 
  • Share original and authentic content on their own Instagram/TikTok/Facebook. The content should be unpublished and not submitted to a similar competition before. 
  • The applicants are prohibited to put ASEAN Foundation logo, Google.org logo, and mentioning any AI brand on the content and captions. 
  • Tag @aseanfoundation and use the hashtags #AIReadyASEAN and #AIinEducationWeek when posting the content on Instagram/TikTok/Facebook. 
  • Ensure that the content respects copyright laws and avoids offending any specific group(s) of people, including issues related to race, ethnicity, and religion. 

Assessment Criteria: 

  • Creativity and Originality 

The photo and captions are original, use creative, interesting, and unique approaches to engage the audience. 

  • Theme Suitability 

The creative content effectively addresses and represents the topic of the challenge. 

  • Aspirations and Impacts (Call to Actions) 

The content conveys aspirational ideas and thoughts that inspire the audience to have further actions and engagement on AI issues in ASEAN. 

 Additional Notes: 

  • The jury's decision cannot be contested. 
  • The jury has the right to cancel its decision if in the future it is known that the winning content violates other people's copyrights (plagiarism) or participates in similar competitions or has been published on other social media. 
  • Copyright remains with the content creators, while the committee has the right to publish it on the ASEAN Foundation’s social media.
