TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR RUNNER
Blog Making Competition
ASEAN Digital Innovation Programme
Bangkok, 27-29 November 2019
BACKGROUND
Three decades after ASEAN was established, ASEAN leaders recognised that: there remained inadequate shared prosperity, ASEAN awareness and contact among the people of ASEAN. It was of this concern that ASEAN leaders established ASEAN Foundation in Jakarta, Indonesia, at ASEAN’s 30th Anniversary Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 15 December 1997.
The ASEAN Foundation is an organisation from and for the people of ASEAN. The Foundation exists because of one vision: to build a cohesive and prosperous ASEAN Community. As an ASEAN body, the Foundation is tasked to support ASEAN mainly in promoting awareness, identity, interaction and development of the people of ASEAN.
The blog making competition of the ASEAN Digital Innovation Programme is a competition which target the underserved youths who have been trained on the Future Ready ASEAN to apply what they have learned to a blog development.
With the support from 13 partners[1] and 532 educators who undertook the Training of Trainers (TOT) from eight ASEAN Member States (AMSs), they will assist to nominate the trained underserved youths to take part in the blog competition. The theme of the competition is on the SUSTAINABILTY which follows the Thailand’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2019.
The blog competition will require all youths to create a blog which identifies a pressing challenge in ASEAN in the four following sub-themes: climate change, biodiversity, water, and agriculture. The youths will describe in their blog how they design/build/test a prototype solution to address this challenge.
Before participating in the blog competition, all participants will also be informed to sign up other online learning courses on the Future Ready Asia website and other Microsoft learning platforms e.g. Make code, and Minecraft in Education. These courses will equip them with these additional knowledges to sustain their learning in the computer science education.
The teams who submitted the best blog from each country will take part in the regional competition at the end of November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. Two members of the team with the best blog from each country will be invited to pitch their blogs in front of judges[2].
Also, upon the completed the blog competition, the ASEAN Foundation and Microsoft will exhibit the eight best blogs, the Future Ready Asia website, and other Microsoft learning sources during the competition.
