TERMS OF REFERENCE ASEAN DATA SCIENCE EXPLORERS (ASEAN DSE) 2023 AMBASSADORS

TERMS OF REFERENCE

ASEAN DATA SCIENCE EXPLORERS (ASEAN DSE) 2023 AMBASSADORS

BACKGROUND

Three decades after ASEAN was established, ASEAN leaders recognised that there remained inadequate shared prosperity, ASEAN awareness, and contact among people of ASEAN. It was of this concern that ASEAN leaders established the ASEAN Foundation during ASEAN’s 30th Anniversary Summit in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on 15 December 1997. The ASEAN Foundation is an organisation from and for the people of ASEAN and exists because of one vision: to build a cohesive and prosperous ASEAN Community. As an ASEAN’s body, the Foundation is tasked to support ASEAN mainly in promoting awareness, identity, interaction, and development of the people of ASEAN. JUSTIFICATION

The ASEAN Foundation along with SAP will implement the 7th ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ASEAN DSE) in 2023. It is an initiative that aims to enhance awareness and appreciation of the ASEAN Community among young people through digital literacy intervention that will be achieved through a data analytics competition and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) enablement sessions targeting tertiary students, high school students, and underserved youths aged 15 to 30 across the ASEAN region.

Two of the main activities under this programme include a regional data analytics competition and SAC enablement sessions. As we are going to reach out to more beneficiaries for a bigger outcome and impact, we are inviting ASEAN DSE alumni and youths across the 10 AMS to apply for the ASEAN DSE ambassadors. We will work with 10 ambassadors from the 10 AMS to support the implementation of the enablement sessions targeting tertiary students, high school students, and underserved youths aged 15 to 30 across the ASEAN region. Each ambassador will be treated as a consultant and be hired through a Special Services Agreement (SSA), whose duration is valid from early February 2023 to end of May 2023 (duration subject to change).

OBJECTIVES

We are hiring the ASEAN DSE ambassadors to support the ASEAN DSE programmes with the specific objectives as follows:

  1. To reach out to high school and tertiary students and underserved youths to join the enablement session and the competition
  2. To facilitate the enablement sessions either online or offline
  3. To support the promotion of the competition’s call for applications to relevant youths

DEFINITION OF ENABLEMENT SESSION

The enablement session is an SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) training session, aimed to provide underserved youths with understanding of SAC and its functionalities/features for data analytics. Through the enablement session, trained youths will be introduced to SAC and its functionalities/features and exposed to data analytics skills as well as other entailed skills such as critical thinking skill and problem-solving skill. The youths will have the opportunities to do hands-on exercises which will help them understand the SAC and its functionalities/features and gain relevant skills (data analytics skill, critical thinking skill, and problem-solving skill).
