Webinar: Towards Health and Economic Recovery

Under the Chairmanship of Brunei Darussalam, the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) has continued to implement its tasks in accordance with its mandate as stipulated in the ASEAN Charter and the CPR’s Terms of Reference, even during the turbulent period of the Covid-19 pandemic. One of those tasks is the promotion of ASEAN cooperation in general, and the CPR.

This CPR Webinar Series is followed by online activities that expect more than 60 participants, comprising university students, academics, representatives of think tanks from ASEAN Member States, and representatives of ASEAN chambers of commerce, regardless of their physical location.

This broader scope of the audience is very much in line with ASEAN’s initial purpose of holding these outreach events, which is to inform the public at large on ASEAN’s activities, and to bring together diverse stakeholders to identify areas in the implementation of ASEAN’s mandate.

Nonetheless, the duration of the webinar is rather limited as compared to pre-COVID physical lectures. Hence, the webinar will invite a few CPR members to each deliver a ten-minute presentation on a given topic, followed by a moderated Q & A session.

In celebration of 54th ASEAN Day, for this year's CPR Webinar Series, COVID-19 themes are still deemed relevant. Most ASEAN countries are now focusing on vaccine cooperation and distribution, and in addition to that, also attempt to achieve economic recovery in their respective countries and in the region. Considering these recent developments, the proposed theme for CPR Webinar 2021 is Towards Health and Economic Recovery in the Region.

Date and Venue

The CPR Webinar Series will be held over online video conferencing (VC) platform. The third virtual webinar of the CPR Webinar Series will be held on Wednesday, 11 August 2021, at 10.30 a.m. (GMT+7) as part of the celebration of ASEAN Day.
